Background of the study
Real-time feedback plays a significant role in the learning process, enabling students to understand their strengths and areas for improvement quickly. Traditional methods of feedback, such as written comments on assignments, can often be delayed, leaving students with limited time to act on the feedback. In contrast, a real-time student feedback system allows teachers to provide immediate feedback to students during lessons or after assessments, enhancing learning outcomes and helping students track their progress (Akpan & Omoniyi, 2023).
In Kano Municipal, Kano State, many secondary schools face challenges with providing timely and actionable feedback to students. The design of a real-time student feedback system can address this issue by enabling teachers to evaluate student performance instantly and give constructive feedback during lessons. This system could lead to improved student engagement and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Statement of the problem
Secondary schools in Kano Municipal, Kano State, struggle to provide students with timely and effective feedback that can guide their learning. The lack of real-time feedback hampers students' ability to improve quickly and make adjustments to their study methods. This study aims to design and implement a real-time student feedback system to address this challenge.
Objectives of the study
To design a real-time student feedback system for secondary schools in Kano Municipal, Kano State.
To implement the system and integrate it with existing school management systems.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the system in improving student performance and engagement.
Research questions
How effective is the real-time student feedback system in improving students' academic performance?
What impact does the system have on student engagement during lessons?
How do students and teachers perceive the usability and impact of the real-time feedback system?
Significance of the study
The real-time student feedback system will facilitate immediate communication between students and teachers, enabling students to address learning gaps promptly. This will enhance students' overall performance and encourage an interactive and responsive learning environment.
Scope and limitations of the study
The study will focus on the design and implementation of the real-time feedback system in secondary schools in Kano Municipal, Kano State. It will not extend to schools outside the region or address other components of school management.
